![]() I really can't think of many/any shots that the A1 can get where the R5 can't." Yes the A1 has some advantages.they really aren't worth the price premium that exists though. "The R5 is hands down the best value for my type of bird/wildlfie photography. I cite again a very experienced BIF photog on another forum who uses an A1, but also tried an R5, and this is what he wrote: : New firmware version 1.0.3.Thoughts R LOL.you argue from test charts showing artificial conditions, like pushing a photo 6 stops in post.and even then I can find other settings where the Canon equals or outshines the Sony.īut in real world use.a bit different. : We are excited to announce that we have refreshed the ranking scale within the community! : Keep your Canon gear in optimal condition with a Canon Maintenance Service : New firmware version 1.0.3.1 is available for EOS-C300 Mark III : New firmware version 1.0.5.1 is available for EOS-C500 Mark II : New firmware version 1.3.2 is available for PowerShot G7 X Mark III : Service Notice:UPDATE: Canon Inkjet Printer continuous reboot loop or powering down : New firmware version 1.0.1 is available for CR-X300 : New firmware version 1.2.0 is available for CR-N 500 : New firmware version 1.2.0 is available for CR-N 300 : New firmware version 1.1.1 is available for RF 70-200mm L IS USM : We're thrilled to be ranked among the Best Employers for Veterans in 2022 by Forbes. : New firmware version 1.7.0 is available for EOS R5 ![]() : New firmware version 1.0.5.1 is available for EOS C70 : Help ensure your autofocus is properly aligned with a Canon Precision Alignment : New firmware version 1.1.1 is available for EOS R6 Mark II : New firmware version 1.8.1 is available for EOS R6 : New firmware version 1.0.3.1 is available for EOS-R5 C : New firmware version 1.4.1 is available for EOS R3 I have the R5, R6 and R6II and they are all great cameras, the rest is down to cost, and how and what you create your images. The tracking is brilliant in this unit as is the IBIS in working with RF lenses (hence my question on lenses). It has significant improvements over the R6 MkI and has the ability to shoot electronic shutter at up to 40 fps with minimal shutter lag. If you are going to be shooting from some distance, then the 45MP may be useful for cropping but if you are closer that advantage may not be worth the cost.įor the ergonomic features and frame rates you have been missing, I would suggest the R6MkII. If you have a big budget then the R5 might be the way to go, but it's not cheap. If you dont' need the resolution, then you can get a cheaper camera and have money left for optics, for example. What do you actually produce? If you are going to produce large, hi-resolution images for sale, then the demand is much greater than producing smaller images, or for digital display or social media - where the latter downsizes your images significantly. I am curious about what lenses and focal lengths you use and how close you are to the action. However, you have suggested that you are shoot mountain bike photography. There is no point in suggesting cameras that you cannot afford. If 24mp and 4k 60 work for you, then the R62.Īfter perusing the thread I have yet to see a budget, which really is the primary factor. If you want 8k video then you'll have to go with the R5. Visit Flicker and compare some 24 vs 45 MP images. The R5 has 2 media types, R62 dual SD's if you care. The R5 only does 120fps in slo mo, but you get 8k30. Video consideration, the R62 does 4k 60 and 180fps in slo mo. For many 24 megapixels shot well might be enough. ![]() ![]() I primarily shoot landscapes and architecture, detail is extremely important to me. The R62 offers 1/2 a stop bump in EV (That's negligeable)Īsk yourself, can you go back to 24 megapixels? I could not. On paper it looks like a sports photographers dream, but do you really need more than 20? Both have adequate buffer capacity, but the R5 has nearly double comparatively. Performance wise R5 20fps, and R62 40fps, electronic shutter. Further enhancements to AF and subject tracking being included. It will be receiving another update in June. The R62 has all of canons latest AF features, subject tracking and software algorithms. I see how this could be a tough decision. ![]()
